Ashlee's Getting Married!

Hello Erickson Family!
Steve and I are getting married if you haven’t heard! Our Wedding date is November 6th, 2009, just around the corner! It is coming so fast and we are so excited!
Claudine emailed me asking me to tell how Steve and I met!
In December a few years back there was a group that was organized to take a snowboard trip up to Utah. I found out from a friend of mine (Tony) and just felt like it would be a great opportunity to meet some new people while doing my favorite thing (snowboarding). It just so happened that my friend Tony was good friends with Steve and had talked him into signing up for the trip as well. The three of us sat together on the bus ride up and stuck together the whole weekend on the mountain. From then on, a friendship began that has grown into a special love!

Steve proposed up in Prescott on a family cabin trip. The 2nd day we were there, I kept bugging Steve about renting a scary movie to watch out in the woods that night with his brothers and sister in law. He shot the idea down every time (Steve doesn’t like scary movies). When we were in town that night I talked him into it. We pulled up to the movie store and he gave me some money to run in. I grabbed the scariest movie I could find.
Back at the cabin that night I told everyone about the scary movie and what time we planned to watch it. Around 11pm a bunch of the family were sitting around talking. Steve came up to me and said “Sneak downstairs and grab the movie. . . I’ll meet you down there and we’ll sneak out the back door.” This confused me because other people were wanting to watch the movie. I asked if he was sure we should do that. He just said the same thing to me again . . . so we got up and snuck downstairs. It was super dark and quiet out in the woods. Steve said he was going to grab his laptop out of the truck and then we would walk down the path and find a spot. I started to get a little freaked out so I suggested we watch the movie in the back of the pick up truck next to the cabin. But Steve insisted that if we were going to do this . . . we were going to do it in the woods. I agreed and we began up the path away from the cabin. Steve picked a spot where we could still see the porch light on the cabin. At this point I’m a still freaked out and doubting if I want to watch this movie. But figure I need to take advantage of the situation because Steve never agrees to watch these movies! So Steve opens the laptop and a screen pops up that says Steve & Ashlee. (Right at that moment I knew what was about to take place). He clicked on the screen and my favorite song (Chicago: You’re the inspiration) started playing and the coolest picture slide show began. Pictures from over the past year and a half of our friendship/relationship together. It was so neat! When it ended he got down on one knee and proposed!

So that is the story! We are so excited to be getting married in the Mesa Arizona Temple in just about a month and a few days! We love you guys and hope to see you soon!

Love,
Ashlee and Steven
